The 2010 Kintyre Songwriters Festival returns to the White Hart Hotel in Campbeltown on the May Holiday Weekend (28th/29th/30th) on what promises to be a very busy weekend for the town. The Songwriters Festival was inaugurated in 2008 in tribute to local musician the late Kenneth Gilchrist who created the concept and began the organisation.
The primary aim of the festival is to showcase original music in Kintyre with an emphasis on local talent. The organisation also raises money to support music, the arts and other good causes throughout Kintyre.
Building on the sell-out success of the previous two years, the organisers are looking for fresh local talent as they aim to expand the audience and number of performers while maintaining the uniquely intimate atmosphere which allows artists to have their music heard by interested and appreciative listeners.
In addition to three varied evening events, the more informal Saturday afternoon open stage will also be expanded this year to provide even more opportunities for performers.
To date the Songwriters Festival has attracted performers from Aberdeen to Brighton, so to ensure that local talent can be given priority, the Songwriters Festival urges local musicians, singer-songwriters and groups of any genre who are interested in getting involved to contact info@kintyresongwritersfestival.co.uk
Another amazing year, thanks to you all
